Apartment 1415

Infante D. Henrique, needing to supply the ships for the capture of Ceuta in the military expedition commanded by King D. João I in 1415, asked the inhabitants of the city of Porto for all types of food.
All the meat that the city had was cleaned, salted and stored in the with the population being sacrificed only with the offal for cooking, including tripe. It was with them that the Portuguese had to invent food alternatives, thus creating the dish Tripas à moda do Porto which would end up continuing to this day and becoming, in itself, one of the most characteristic gastronomic elements of the city. In such a way that, with him, the nickname tripeiros was also born, as the people of Porto have been known since then.
